You tube is filled with videos explaining diving on all levels. Some are good, some are really good, some are bad, some are really bad.
There are ofcourse plenty of real information to be learned on youtube but it is very important to keep in mind that looking at videos at youtube does not give you experience in diving.
Too many belive themselves to be competent divers just by watching videos on you tube. This scares me.
To become a competent, confident and safe diver you need experience in the water. You need diving experience.
YOU NEED watertime – Dive time, there is nothing that can compare to actually beeing under water and beeing diving. That is where and when you get experience.
Don’t get me wrong – theoretichal learning is ofcourse also very important – this of course includes your Instructors material an the material of the course/program you are going.
Of course there are plenty more books and other litterature that will give you usefull knowledge into the art of diving
What I am sayin and what actually scares me is the overconfidence people get by watching videos on you tube – believing , truly believing it seems to be experienced diver with out a single second of water time. showing up on day one of the open water course explaining to the instructor how to do their job.
This is both ridicilous and will potentially become very dangerous.
Be Smart! Train properly – Learn correctly – Get proper experience – Respect the inviroment you are about to enter – Respect your Instructors – Be Smart!
Remember; On youtube, anyone, I am going to repeat that, anyone can post videos – they do not even have to be scuba diver to post videos on becoming a scuba diver.
Be careful Guys!

Safey Diving Everyone!
